tag #23 -the brook.
A. Hester and dimsdale are speaking in the woods when out of nowhere she tells him Chillingworth is her husband. Dimsdale seems to think it would be a prudent idea to run away together but hester says no and to watch out for chillingworth.
B.I think she is trying to keep dimsdale safe from chillingworth because i think hester thinks that chillingworth knows.
tag #24 -"He has violated... the sanctity of a human heart"
A. what happens here is Hester asks dimsdale for forgivness and dimsdale forgives her then dimsdale says Chillingworthis the worst sinner of them all.
B. personaly i dont see why it was so hard for dimsdale to forgive hester i mean she needed security so she got an older man, whats the big deal.
tag #25 -laws of man vs. laws of nature
A. This chapter is about the types of law. first, the law of man, which hester broke when she commited adultry, and Dimsdale having to deal with hi guilt and remorse that is the law of nature.
B. Life is full of choices you make them and then you have to live with the consequences. it is the other law of nature.
tag #26 -"She had been offered to the world... as the living hieroglyphic"
A. In this chapter Hester and Dimsdale are talking about pearl and how pearl is so undoubtably their child. and because of this they have to live with the fact they have sinned and there will always be pearl to remind them of what happened that night.
B. Pearl is not only a Blessing but a curse because whenever hester will lookat her daughter she will be reminded of their sin.
Tag 23
–the brook–
A.) Author/Facts
This chapter is about the mother and daughter walk that Hester and Pearle share together. Pearl, full of questions as usual, asks her mother why the brook they were by looked so sad. Hester responded by saying that it was guilty and had its very own sad story to tell.
B.) Reader/Response
I think that this is a significant part in the book in that the brook represents several people. First it could be Pearl, who winded her way through her mothers life. Next, it could be like Dimmesdale or Chillingworth who are also factors in her life.

–“He has violated…the sanctity of the human heart”-
A.) Author/Facts
This part of the novel begins with Dimmesdale who is out in the forest walking along when he is spotted by Hester. Hester then approaches him and reveals the true identity of Chillingworth to him. She is forgiven by Dimmesdale and then he reminds her that they aren't the worst sinners, but he is.
B.) Reader/Response
I think that this is also and important part in the novel because it shows that Hester truly loves Dimmesdale more because she was willing to forsake the love of her marriage with Chillingworth to make sure Dimmesdale is not lied to.
Tag 25
–laws of nature vs. the laws of man–
A.) Author/Facts
This part of the novel is where we see the different world views become accounted for. Man vs. Man, Man vs. Nature, etc. We also see who has certain views on what, and why they are that way. Such as Hester, Dimmesdale and Chillingsworth's views.
B.) Reader/Response
This part is important because it helps us to understand the different positions and how and why certain characters believe that way and are special that way.

– “She had been offered to the world…as the living hieroglyphic”
A.) Author/Facts
During this chapter we see Hester and Dimmesdale acting more like a husband and wife would, even though they are not married. They also begin to discuss how Pearl has the looks of both of them, so Hester calls her over, except Pearl woudlnt' come until Hester put the "A" on.
B.) Reader/Response
I think this is important because it shows how Pearl is bring Hester and Dimmesdale closer together. If it wasn't for her, he still might not have decided to live up for his sin, and become closer to Hester.

Tag #23 the brook - page 145-146
A. Hester and Pearl are walking through the forest to tell Dimmesdale that Chilingsworth is her husband and they meet up with the brook. Pearl then asks her mother why the brook is so sad and sorrowful and Hester tells Pearl that it is their own business.
B.I think this is ironic because Pearl is just like the brook because it came from some thing bad also did Pearl.
Tag #24 "He has violated... the sanctity of a human heart"- page 153
A. Hester tells Dimmesdale that he has been living with her husband for the past few weeks and he is furious. Hester asks him for forgiveness and gives it to her but Dimmesdale wants to flee to Europe.
B.I think this is what Dimmesdale disserves the pain that he knows that he was living with the man that he betrayed .I don’t think Hester should flee to Europe because she has gone through to much to give up now.
Tag #25 laws of man vs. laws of nature- page 157
A. Hester is still talking to Dimmesdale in the woods about the guilt and she takes off the A and feels free again; going against the law of man. While Dimmesdale is seeing this he is still go through the law of nature because of the guilt of not owning up to his sin.
B. I think this is great for Hester because she feels free of the A but I am glad that Dimmesdale still fells guilt because he is a girl and wouldn’t own up.
Tag #26 "She had been offered to the world... as the living hieroglyphic"- page 163
A. Hester and Dimmesdale are watching Pearl play in the woods and are talking about how she is being affected by the A. Then Hester call Pearl over and she would not come because of the A wasn’t on Hester.
B. The A has affected Pearls life very much and she grew accustom to the A and doesn’t know what to do with out it.
