I like that title "Civil Disobedience" because that is exactly what this essay is talking about. but i think his views did change over the coarse of the essay. in the first page he is all " i dont need the government a good government is one that doesnt do anything. then he is all if you dont like the government and their views take a stand make a change. i dont agee with the whole the best government is one that doesnt do anything thoery. but i do fully agree with doing somthing about somthing you know that isnt right in your government.
thoreau's essay is more focused on politics and emerson is more focused on self truth. for the most part i dont agree with this essay.
Thoreau's main theme or message is that the government should be limited to their powers and the people should stand up to the government. Thoreau is more focused on the government and Emerson is focused on your inner thinking. One thing that I disagreed with is the first line "the government is best which governs least." If the government governed least it would be a total mess. I agree with this statement “The government does not keep the country free." This is totally true because the government can take freedom away if we screw up.
The main idea in Thoreau's statement is one in particular. He singles it out. He is basically saying that society would be far better off without the government, than it is with the government. He thinks this because he believes the government is incompetent.
