Tag 7
" Governer's Hall"
A. When Hester goes to the Governers mansion she asks the Governer if they are going to take pearl away from her and he says she is not a suitable parent for pearl.

B. ok i dont see why she couldnt have Pearl as her daughter and why she couldnt raise her but i could see why she may not be a suitable parent, so basicly i just contridicted myself, so ya

Tag 8
"The Elf Child"
A. So what happens is Hester is at the Governers mantion and some high class people are messing with Pearl and Hester is convinced that she can raise Pearl and teach her not to sin and make the same mistakes she did

B. My question is why are they tossing around a little girl, and calling her a deamon child? these people were supposedly Christians right? they should show the love of christ to Pearl.

Tag 7.) Pearl’s Dress
A.) Author/Facts
- Hester made gloves for the governor
- Pearl is suspected of being possessed
- Rumors surface that Pearl is going to be taken away
- Hester in her dress
B.) Reader/Response
- Personally, I think that when Hester saw the “A” sticking out on her dress proves once again to everyone what she had done.

Tag 8.) “…she seemed absolutely hidden behind it”
A.) Author/Facts
- Hesters Dress
- A sheath for her person

B.) Reader/Response
- This is kind of what I was talking about before, the dress represents the past of of which she had commited adultery and all of the harsh times that have surrounded her life since that.

Tag 9.) change in Chillingworth
A.) Author/Facts
- A witch-hunt begins
- Pearl has an intuition in who her father is
- Pearl is made fun of
B.) Reader/Response
- Once again, I think this part is beginning to show more of the family bonds and the family connections to one another, for example, Hester was invited on the witch hunt but refused to go.

Tag 10.) “Speak thou for me!”
A.) Author/Facts
- In court
- Test of Religious knowledge
B.) Reader/Response
- I think this showed bad character on the part of the judges because they were so caught up in trying to take Hester away from Pearl, they forgot about having a Christian attitude.

Tag #7 Pearls Dress

A. Hester and Pearl was on there way to the governor’s office because she has heard some rumors about them taking the baby away from her. When they got close to town the kids started flinging mud at them because of their dresses. They are both wear "A" on their dress because she is the consequence of the sin.
B.I think it is totally ridiculous that Hester is making her child wear the A on her dress. She did not commit the sin so why label her like that.

Tag #8 "...she seemed absolutely hidden behind it"

A. Hester and Pearl are in the Governors office and Pearl sees her dress in the mirror. She is amazed how much it covers her body with the huge "A".
B.I think that it is sad for Pearl to have to wear the dress because her mother did the sin not her. She should not have to hear the mochary about her mother because she didn’t do it.

Tag #9 Change in Chillingworth

A. Hester is finally talking to the governor and he wants the child sent to foster care but Hester will not allow it.
B.I think this is totally ridiculous because the sin was adultery not murder. She can still raise her child and have the rite to do what she wants to do with her.

Tag #10 "Speak thou for me!"
A. Hester goes to her pastor and wants help for the upcoming events. He says to her to not worry and God has given her the child for a reason.
B.This was a good thing for Hester to go talk it out with him Pastor because she can’t go through this alone.

Tag #9 "Change in Chillingworth" – pg. 112

A. Basicly what is happening is the towns people are trying to take Pearl away from Hester and she says she wont let that happen

B. Why would they want to take pearl away from Hester other than the fact she has made a mistake. why is Chillingworth just standing by and letting this happen? i think Chillingworth should step in and save his wife, or it might harm her, im confused

Tag # 10 “Speak thou for me!”
pg. 113

A. Hester needs help so she she asks her pastor for help and she seems to think that letting her keep the child would be better for Pearl.

B. I honestly think Hester is being selfish here, not only is her child "marked" but so is pearl.
why won't hester let her daughter have a shot at having a normal life?
