Friday, September 8, 2006 - Edwards Discussion

Write your response to "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" by Jonathan Edwards. How is it similar or different to what you have been taught about God? What would you want to say to Jonathan Edwards about this sermon if you could talk to him?

Well I thought it was very different from what I had been taught. I have been taught all my life from school and from my parents that our God is a loving God, who is always looking out for the best of us. This sermon however teaches quite the oppisite. It teaches that our God is an angry God that is out for revenge and to make the lives miserable of those who do not obey him. If I could talk to Jonathan Edwards I would explain to him, why his teachings are wrong. Well thats all.

This Edwards man has something wrong with him.He says that God doesnt love us and we deserve the fiery pit.Everything this guy says contradicts with my relion.I would tell him to get a life and dont talk to me every again.I would also call a preist to do a excorcism on Jonathen Edwards.

i thought this sermon was violent and inaccurate. i can see why the puritans were so God fearing. this monster corrupted so many people, and destroyed many lives. it says in the bible that God wont do anything to harm us. He says we will burn, but in reality he will probally be the one to burn.
